January DH racing…

I am very much looking forward to this years riding and racing on my first proper downhill bike. As well as my first year in seniors. To start it off was the 1st round of the Woodland Riders winter series held down at Tavi woods or ‘Chipshop’.With a good number of riders signed in and a very good track, I was really looking forward to it. First run went ok but I made a mistake clipping a tree and stoping me dead, so I knew I could make a lot of time by avoiding that next time. Which I did, finishing 10th/34 in seniors and 15th/78 overall. Good start. Next was onto the 661 Mini Downhill, always like these events. Good atmosphere, good track but horribly cold weather! This race didn’t go according to plan at all. In my last run in practice, I was feeling quite good and I had slight buck over the bars, then stopped dead on a tree. The damage was, winding myself for about 1o minutes, un repairable front wheel and twisted fork lowers (which are luckily now fixed). Note to self, don’t go so hard in practice. Greg
